Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH) has once again been recognised for its exceptional, compassionate, and patient‑centred approach to care. A private patient preparing for minimally invasive mitral valve repair has shared a heartfelt account of his recent experience at the hospital, highlighting the professionalism, reassurance, and kindness demonstrated by every member of staff involved in his treatment journey. His message reflects the high standards consistently upheld across LHCH and the strong sense of trust it inspires among those undergoing complex cardiac procedures.
Here’s what the patient had to say:
I am a private patient with moderate to severe mitral regurgitation and paroxysmal atrial fibrillation under the excellent care of Mr. Paul Modi at Liverpool Heart & Chest Hospital.
As part of my preparatory tests ahead of anticipated Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve repair and Complex Box Lesion in the coming weeks I attended LHCH on Thursday last week for a Transesophageal Echo (TOE) procedure.
I just wanted to pass on my thanks and appreciation to all of the excellent team of staff who looked after me on the day and beforehand, from the booking and arranging of treatment, to the treatment and recovery itself. Their care and support was exceptional and turned a procedure I had somewhat dreaded into a warm, friendly, enjoyable experience - which is quite an achievement. I don't know the names of all of the team involved on the day but have copied in May and Samantha who I'm sure will and I would ask you to pass on my thanks to all of them.
I had a successful Catheter Ablation operation with Prof Gupta in 2019 at LHCH which was an equally excellent experience, and such is my trust and confidence in the capability and support at LHCH, I would ideally like to have my forthcoming operation at the hospital, if there is a choice, and it is supported and recommended by Mr Modi.
With thanks for an excellent service. A very appreciative patient.
Mr Mark Basnett
